More Duty-Free items in Japan

From October 1, 2014, certain items originally subject to tax, such as food items, beverages, medicine, cosmetic goods, etc., will gain exempt status. These newly tax exempt products will be sold by designated shops all over Japan. These shops will post a symbol designating them as such for the convenience of all visitors to Japan. An enticing new benefit for international tourists, they no longer will have to wait to buy duty-free items directly before their departure at duty-free stores located only at international airports.

International visitors should be aware that these items are not to be consumed before leaving Japan; they will be packaged with a special seal that will clearly show if the item has been opened.

Look for these symbols for more duty-free items while you are traveling Japan!
