Hiking in Japan's ancient capital of Kamakura by JR East



Ekikara Hiking (Hiking from the Station) events are one-day events starting from stations throughout the eastern Japan area that anyone can participate in easily. They consist of hiking while experiencing the historical buildings and abundant nature of the areas around the stations. Participation is free of charge. Participation in the Ekikara Hiking event is very simple! All you need to do is apply through this website and then go to the reception counter at the hiking spot on the day of the event! All participants will receive gifts!

Reception Area Kamakura Station
Go out of the ticket gate at the East Exit and the reception area will be immediately on your right. The reception staff will be waiting for you.
* In the event of rain, go out of the ticket gate at the East Exit and the reception area will be immediately on your left. The reception staff will be waiting for you.
Walking Time Approx. 1 hour (excluding tours of establishments)
Walking Distance Approx. 4 km
Reception Hours at the End of the Course Until 4pm
(small presents will be given to hikers who reach the goal before this time)
Tour Fee Free of charge
Lunch Feel free to bring your own lunch.
Guide Each hiker will be given their own map so you can walk around freely.
At Kotoku-in Temple (home of the Great Buddha of Kamakura) and Hase -dera Temple (home of the Hase Kannon) there are Kamakura welcome guides who will explain the attractions in English.
* Each Kamakura welcome guide has a flag so that he or she can be easily identified.
