Japan Railways, Hokkaido have announced the schedule for the ‘Spring Foliage Viewing Train’ (Harukoyo Ressha) from Sapporo. This year the schedule has been extended due to the area’s popularity and provides more opportunities for people wishing to travel into the Niseko Region to enjoy the spectacular colors of the new spring. Niseko because of its mountain proximity becomes ablaze with color in spring, Japan is well known for it fiery displays of Autumn color, however the freshness and vibrancy of spring out does in many ways even the very best of Autumns.
This year if you have the opportunity to travel to Hokkaido, a train ride from Sapporo will let you in on possibly some of the very best scenery that this Hokkaido has on offer, the trains leave from Sapporo on a daily basis and timetables are available from the JR Hokkaido website. Some of the must see spots when you reach Niseko are the Panorama Line and the Goshiki Onsen area, or the Higashiyama area and the base of Mt Yotei. Niseko also comes alive in the early spring with a variety of mountain flowers
JR HOKKAIDO will operate a train daily from Sapporo on the 29th of April 2011 to the 14th of May 2011. This train will also operate on both days of the weekend of the 14th, 15th May 2011 and on the 21st, 22nd May 2011. After the weekend of the 14th May 2011 until the 26th of May 2011 (Saturday and Public Holidays)
