Takabisha-The World's Steepest Freefall Rollercoaster

Fujikyu Highland, also known as Fuji-Q Highland, is a theme park near the base of Mt. Fuji, home to a number of breathtaking, heart-stopping rollercoasters, each of which, after being built, has consecutively earned Fuji-Q Highland a place in the Guiness Book of World Records. The first listing was in 1996, when the Fujiyama rollercoaster held the record for the world's tallest rollercoaster.

Takabisha, which opened July 16th, 2011, taking a total of $38 million to build, is the newest and most electrifying rollercoaster at the theme park. The course runs for over half a mile, reaching maximum speeds of 62 miles per hour, with seven major twists, and a startling drop of 47 feet. The course even starts with the car running in total darkness after it leaves the platform! But what makes Takabisha the most thrilling rollercoaster yet is its 121 degree freefall angle.

After Takabisha gets approval from Guiness, they will be listed as holding the record for the rollercoaster with the steepest freefall angle in the world. This will be Fuji-Q Highland's 14th world record since earning their first in 1996.

At the opening event for Takabisha, selected members of Japan's top pop idol group, SKE 48, were invited to ride the rollercoaster and share their excitement with the public.
