New York, NY, December 18, 2013: The highlight of the tourism related news from Japan must be the 2020 Olympic bids that chose Tokyo as the host city. Japan has set the direction toward this major international event, and the new events in 2014 should be leading more tourism development for the Olympics in the next seven years.
 

Hotel Opening

Kyoto Ritz-Carlton Hotel, opening on February 7, 2014
The ancient capital of Kyoto is going to add a western luxury accommodation in February 2014. With the renowned hotel interior designer Peter Remedios, the Ritz-Carlton Kyoto realizes contemporary harmony of the ancient Japanese beauty and the 21st century stylish relaxation. Guestrooms feature Kyoto's traditional concept of clean and beautiful view of nature, including the view of Kamo River and Higashiyama mountain range, Kyoto's traditional box garden view, and outdoor decks. Located along the riverbank of the historic Kamo River, the Ritz-Carlton will be the western style accommodation with traditional beauty in the heart of Kyoto history.


 

Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel in Abeno Harukas, Grand Open on March 7, 2014
Marriott Osaka is also opening its door on March 7, occupying 19 floors of the tallest building in Japan, Abeno Harukas tower, Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel will be the fourth Marriott property introduced in Japan. The 360 guestrooms enjoy magnificent sky view of the city of Osaka from the 38th to 55th floors. The restaurant located on the 57th floor boasts an extraordinary collection of liquors from all over the world, not to mention multi-national dining menus and great panorama view of the city of Osaka. Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel accommodates leisure, business travelers and conference delegates, and convention travelers. The guests can access to Kansai International Airport in 30 minutes by airport express train called Express Haruka, as well as multiple local train service to major landmarks in Osaka. Abeno Harukas is a new 984 feet tall skyscraper with 60 floors, and inside are dining, shopping art and business floors.


 

Aman Resort Tokyo, Early 2014
The word is out, but not yet much details. One of world's most prominent luxury resort hotel brand Aman is opening a surprising urban hotel in the Otemachi area in the heart of Tokyo in the first quarter of 2014. In the latest business complex building in Otemachi, Aman Resort appears as an urban oasis. The Otemachi area is just between the Imperial Palace and the historic Tokyo station, and Aman's new location in Tokyo offers the supreme hospitality and access to Tokyo's major landmarks as well as the chic shopping complexes and the terminal station of the Bullet train (shinkansen).


 

Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills, opening in summer 2014

As only the 12th property in the world, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills will greet guests with inspiring, indigenous and unscripted atmosphere. Reflecting Tokyo's contemporary urban culture, guests can expect dazzling experience at this hotel. Located in the 52-story business complex Toranomon Hills in the heart of Tokyo, Andaz Tokyo houses 164 guestrooms, including the largest guestroom in Tokyo (538 square feet) with a magnificent city view. Abundant natural materials are largely used for décor, reflecting the traditional Japanese nature-oriented architectural style. The hotel is in the Toranomon area is home to many embassies and global company offices, and very accessible to government and financial districts.


 

Royal Park Hotel THE Haneda, opening in September 2014

Tokyo's inner-city Haneda Airport becomes more convenient for both domestic and international travelers. The Royal Park Hotel is adding the latest property of their "THE" series to the international terminal of Haneda Airport, expanding the accommodation amenities to this 24-hour airport. As a so-called transit hotel, which allows connecting passengers check-in without passing immigration counters, the hotel's 17 out of 315 guestrooms are located within the secured areas of the airport. Since the expansion, Haneda Airport services 24 hours a day, the new Royal Park Hotel THE Haneda significantly contributes to the airport's capacity and the growing number of travelers through Haneda Airport. Adjacent to the international terminal, Royal Park Hotel THE Haneda provides unforgettable airport experience with Japanese style exceptional hospitality to everybody going through the airport.


 

Orion Motobu Resort & Spa, Okinawa, opening in July 2014

Japan's sub-tropical region Okinawa is gaining the number of international visitors in recent years, and so does the hotel openings: In July 2014, Orion Motobu Resort & Spa will be opening next to the world famous Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium on Okinawa Main Island. All 238 guestrooms face Okinawa's breathtaking blue ocean, and easy access to one of the largest aquareiams in the world, Okinawa's local beer company Orion Breweries Ltd. develops the second hotel resort in the most beautiful beach resort area in northern Main Island of Okinawa.
