"Visit Japan Channel" Launched n You Tube

“VISIT JAPAN CHANNEL” LAUNCHED ON YOU TUBE

New York, NY, Aug.12, 2008 – Japan National Tourist Organization established Visit Japan Channel on You Tube, the worldwide audio-visual material sharing website on June 30, 2008.  This is to showcase Japan’s beauty and tourism attractions through the audio-visual material to the world, and this followed other national tourism boards such as Hong Kong, India, New Zealand.

JNTO decided upon this online launch to showcase the increasing number of audio-visual promotional materials from local governments in Japan.  All photo materials are already available on JNTO’s online photo library, and this new channel on YouTube is expected to be the equivalent for Japan-related audio-visual materials.

As a starter, the collection includes Visit Japan Campaign promotion video and Hokkaido promotion video, and JNTO is planning to post additional materials once JNTO receives the copyrights clearance from material providers.

As of July 10, there are 44 video materials posted on this channel, and the daily average view is 6,000.  The most viewed is “Yokoso! Japan: Soulful Japan,” one of the Japan tourism promotion materials, and this marked 10,453 views.  “Heart Land Kumamoto” is the most viewed among the local government video materials with 1,325 views.

JNTO is expecting to receive more materials from local governments for the collection on YouTube, and make the materials available to be linked to third parties.
